Busy: Reconnecting with an Unhurried God
Come to me all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28
The season of Lent has often been a time when we think about "giving something up”—a holdover from its penitential flavor in the medieval church. But what if we thought less about "giving up" and more about "making room?"
We all face the growing intensity and increasingly frenetic pace of life these days. What does it really cost us to be so busy? How do we reconnect, connect more deeply, or find a relationship with God that enables us to care for ourselves in order to continue our ministry of caring for others and our world.
During this Lent, we will be invited to the spiritual practices of making room, clearing out, slowing down, and prioritizing for the sake of holistic lives. “This holistic life involves living with the rhythms that allow us to thrive, finding a balance between work, play, rest and reflection. Jesus calls his followers to more than just unbridled consumption or production. Rather, the Scriptures see our lives and bodies as gifts that should be nurtured.”*
Join us in worship, study and prayer during our Lenten season here at Bow Mills UMC, as we nurture our lives and reconnect to an unhurried God.

Our Connection at Bow Mills United Methodist Church
"What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8b
These are the scripture words that best describe my own call to ministry, and how I seek to be a faithful Christian in the world, and a pastoral leader in the Church.
The Bow Mills United Methodist Church is a community of Christ-followers who seek to live out their faith in study, daily living, spiritual growth and action. We are a diverse community where we seek to welcome all and learn and grow together.
Our worship seeks to inspire and challenge participants with Scripture and its message for us today. We involve a variety of ages, children are most welcome! The services follow a similar format and includes:
